Economic Development:
Silk Training Program

In certain parts of the North East, people harvest silk worms each year for food.  In most cases, they simply use the leftover cocoons for pillow or quilt stuffing.  NEIP has been teaching those willing how to extract silk from these silk worm cocoons and sell the silk to individuals or companies who produce silk products, thus in turn creating a supplemental income.

The public can help by donating to send women for training.  NEIP sends the women of the villages to our trained professional in the North East for three weeks to be trained in silk extraction.  From here, these women return to their villages, and teach other women the same things. This in turn allows for a wide spread of ability to be able to produce silk thread in order to begin helping some of them earn a supplemental income.   Your donations help send these women for training.

The cost to send one woman for training for 20 days is only $75.00 USD. If you would like to sponsor one woman, please click here to donate to the Economic Development Program and then send us an email noting that you have contributed towards the "Silk Training Program". These women who go for training, come back to their villages and train other women how to extract silk from the silk-worm cocoon, thus making the impact of your sponsorship much, much greater. Help them today.
